Combas Farm Bed and breakfast near Saunton Sands Golf Club, Devon, England

Combas Farm Bed and breakfast in Putsborough Croyde for bed and breakfast accommodation for golf breaks in Devon and golf holidays at Saunton Sands, Devon, England.

On its own in a wonderfully secluded valley with no sound of traffic Combas is a 140 acre family run stock farm.  The house is 17th century with a delightful garden and unspoiled views. Water is from our own spring - no need to bring your own. Our position is unique being close to Croyde village, vast sandy beaches and coastal paths.

Guests may wander freely - walk to the top of our hill for a stunning view of two bays, Baggy Point, Lundy Island and on fine evenings spectacular sunsets. On a clear night the absence of light haze means one can count the stars a rare treat! North Devon is one of only three places left in England which have been described as "areas of tranquillity".

We feel sure visitors will agree as they enjoy the peaceful beauty of the countryside, explore the many coves and beaches or just sit in our garden listening to the silence. Combas Farm is only a short walk away from the famous Putsborough Sands, a blue flag beach, which has always been a firm favourite with our guests. Over 2 miles of golden sands leading to Woolacombe, voted one of the seven best beaches in the world. Bathing is safe, there are many rock pools and often good surf. Tuition is available for surfing and other watersports. There are riding stables and tennis courts in Croyde while Saunton Golf Club is less than 3 miles away.  Most of the coast is National Trust - we are close to the South West coast path, the Tarka Trail also the Devon Coast to Coast and the West Country Way Cycle routes.   Drive for an hour or so and you can have a day on Exmoor with possibly a pony trek through Lorna Doone county, or view the fantastic scenery of North Devon's spectacular rugged coastline.

A few minutes down the farm track (sometimes muddy - bring your wellies!) lies the "picture postcard" village of Croyde, famed for it's world class surf. There are several attractive pubs there, most offering "pub grub", some with restaurants.   As well as the pubs there are also quaint old tea shops, ice cream parlours and intimate restaurants - in short, something for everyone.

Saunton Sands Golf Club
East Course: Herbert Fowler's East Course is ranked just outside England's top ten, and at 6,700 yards it provides a stern test to even the most skilled golfers. The rugged sand dunes of Braunton Burrows are the setting for this fine golfing destination.
West Course: The West may be shorter than the more prestigious East Course, but it remains a considerable test, with a network of burns and streams interspersed through the dunes. Both courses are reputed to boast some of the finest putting surfaces in England, and together they represent a truly terrific links golf destination.

Willingcott Valley Golf Course
Willingcott Valley is a dramatic golf course with fantastic panoramic views. Off the yellow tees, the course has great visual impact, but the carries are still fairly manageable. It will provide a great day out provided you use your handicap allowance sensibly.

Ilfracombe Golf Club
The course is situated 1 mile east of Ilfracombe towards Combe Martin on the magnificent North Devon coastline and offers spectacular views along the coast and across the Bristol Channel to South Wales. The 18 hole course is well maintained throughout the year and although not the longest, the undulations and prevailing South Westerlys will still offer up a challenge to golfers of all abilities.

Woolacombe & Mortehoe Golf Club
The golf course a challenging 18 tees of shortish play that will test your iron skills with a course record of 66 strokes (level par). A high standard of course presentation makes it a pleasure to walk even if your golf is a little below par!
