Chris and Heidi would like to offer you a warm welcome to their elegant and grand Victorian home, called Penrose, located in the picturesque and historic town of Lostwithiel.   We are proud to announce we have been awarded 4 stars by the AA.

Penrose is an elegent Victorian House built in 1880 which retains a wealth of original features, including fireplaces in most of the large rooms, cornicing, ceiling roses, chandeliers, high ceilings and stained glass windows. Even though Penrose is elegant and grand, when you walk in you will experience a homely atmosphere. There is off road parking at the back of the house just off Scrations Lane.

We are also offering a Cornish cream tea between 4pm-6pm (we need 6 hours notice) and a luxury package. Details can be found on Dining at Penrose and on the Accommodation pages.

Lostwithiel is now the antiques capital of Cornwall, it also boasts tea shops, restaurants, church, golf course, castle, river, parks, boats, museum and train station.

Our rooms
All our bedrooms contain TV, DVD player, extensive tea & coffee making facilities with biscuits, bottled mineral water, toiletries and hairdryer. The bedrooms have ensuite bathroom facilities bar one room. Altogether, Penrose has to offer four family bedrooms, two double bedrooms and a small, cosy twin room with separate, private bathroom (bathrobes are provided). The family rooms can also be used as double or twin rooms. All the ensuites and bathroom have electric showers, plus fresh towels, shampoo/conditioner and shower gel.  We have a selection of chocolate and diet/coke cans available in the hallway. DVD’s are also available. We can provide an iron and ironing board, and guests have the use a fridge.

We can offer a luxury package for guests. This includes a bottle of wine, cream tea, chocolates and the use of towelling bathrobes, there is a one off charge of £20, and we need 24 hours notice.

Penrose also offers internet access, wireless broadband and fax facilities. Ideal for maintaining business and private communication. An iron and ironing board are available upon request.

In addition to our Bed & Breakfast business we can offer one or two of our rooms as luxury self-catering accommodation depending on the number in your party and your budget.
Pensilver is on the ground floor and is part of Penrose. As a one-bedroom apartment it can sleep 2 people, with the extra bedroom it can sleep up to 5 people. The apartment has been refurbished in the winter of 2006, and is stunning.  Pensilver can either be a one bedroom or two-bedroom apartment, which is part of Penrose B&B. Pensilver can sleep between 2 and 5 people.

Breakfast
The dining room, where breakfast is served, is a beautiful reminder of the opulence of a bygone era. We also have something of this day and age – a computer with Internet access, which is for anyone to use, and usually has the day’s weather showing each morning.  Breakfast consists of your choice off the cold buffet. This includes a choice of cereals with semi skimmed milk, fruit and you can make as much toast as you want, we have homemade jam and marmalade, plus marmite, honey and peanut butter. We try to cater for other dietary requirements, so please let us know how we can help. The Full Cooked English Breakfast consists of unsmoked back bacon, hand linked sausages, eggs either fried or scrambled, grilled tomato, black pudding, hash browns, mushrooms and vegetarian sausages.

Lostwithiel golf Club
The nearly 6,000 yard par 72 course was established in 1991 and offers both a challenge to the accomplished player and the beginner, gentlemen or ladies within your party.  The challenging front nine rewards you with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside, while the picturesque back nine runs through leaf parkland, flanked by the silver waters of the Cornish River Fowey, allowing you to enjoy the views and not just the golf.

Lanhydrock Golf Course
In a sheltered wooded valley in Bodmin central Cornwall lies countryside of a softer hue, concealing one of the finest golf courses in the South West and Cornwall. Over the years Lanhydrock near Bodmin has been beautifully moulded into the landscape and this has produced a course that offers an enjoyable challenge to golfers of all abilities.

Carlyon Bay Golf Club
The Championship golf course on the cliffs at Carlyon Bay is at once beautiful, dramatic and challenging. Stretching along the coastline towards the port of Par, the course offers 6,500 yards of the most stimulating golf in Cornwall, a comfortable club house and an extensive pro shop.

St Austell Golf Club
The course itself is an undulating parkland / heathland course which provides a test for both beginners and low handicappers alike. It is a  Par 69 from the white and yellow tees and 72 from the reds.

Porthpean Golf Club
A challenging picturesque course. The outward holes are in a pleasant parkland setting whilst the return holes command spectacular views over St Austell Bay.  ALL ARE WELCOME. Society rates for ten or more, reduced rates for juniors.
